On Thursday, May 8th at 2:00PM Crowds will gather at the BC Legislature drawing attention to the horrendous death toll inflicted annually in our province. Participants in the March for Life BC are calling on the government and society to choose life-affirming alternatives to abortion.
This year’s March for Life is critical considering recent revelations. Only two weeks ago it was discovered that bodies of British Columbia’s unborn children are being sent to Oregon and incinerated to generate electric power. Oregon immediately halted this barbaric practice, but the BC Ministry of Health has yet to say what they will do in response.
Anastasia Pearse, spokesperson for this year’s March for Life, states “In a day and age where we are so concerned about the environmental impact of our actions, it is absurd that a practice as dreadful as this goes on without our knowledge. However this is not surprising, since all information regarding abortion in BC is censored.”
Last week the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) released the 2012 abortion stats for all of Canada, showing that abortion claimed 7,128 children’s lives in British Columbia hospitals that year. However this number does not include all abortions committed at BC’s two free-standing abortion clinics as British Columbia is the ONLY province in Canada which does not require abortion clinics to report their numbers to CIHI.
“This means the truth will never be known about how many babies are being sent south of the line for disposal,” commented Pearse.
With this year’s theme, Life: The Only Choice, marchers also hope to draw attention to the how abortion harms women physically, emotionally, and psychologically. “Hiding the truth leads to more deception and lives lost,” concluded Pearse.
Marchers are calling on the government to be transparent and support life-affirming choices everyone can live with.
